Once I heard this subject name, I think it is very interesting. Fashion Trend Analysis..So I can know more about the fashion trend in the future! But thing is not so simple. I f you want to know the trend or forecast the trend, you can't just only predict with no reason. Actually there are many things you have to consider and take reference. You just can't look forward only but have to always look backward. Backward may be the history and collection. Ant then through the observation and analysis, you may know about the favourite color the designer just like Dolice & Gabbana desiners love using Achromatic Scheme and also the trend of the brand. Forecasting is not an easy task. And through this project, I can know more about the brand Dolice & Gabbana. In the past, I only know this is a luxury brand. Every product is very expensive. But now I can know that the high price is reasonable. Actually every design has its own inspiration like 09 (Elsa Schiaparelli) , 05(Swinging London) , 04(Helmut Newton) , 03(Marilyn Monroe) etc. So overall the forecasting work is very complicated. It needs peoples' sense and also plenty of information. Finally, I think this subject is totally different compared with other subjects. It is because this subjet has no asolute answer. And also I think the lessons of color theories are really interesting and boarden my horizon . I know more about the color system.

Forecast 2010 collection

Back to basic and happiness

In 2010, everyone will still face the problem of economic tsunami, everyone will be perplexed with the economic situation. Lack of money, unemployment and dark future will continuely be around everyone. Suppose the color forecasting should be achromatic schemelike black, white and grey. But after the project and analysis of Dolice & Gabbana, I think the two designers won't settle down and follow the situation of the society. And for the marketing strategy, for economic situation isn't very good for everyone, it may be safer to use the achromatic scheme for people don't want to spend too much for some exaggerating color and thus short life fashion. But what I forecast is totally different.

Of course, by analysizing the color trend of Dolice &Gabbana within these 10 years, achromatic scheme still is the favour of the two designers. So I also froecast the two designers will use achromatic scheme as their main collection color. But I also think that they will use some exaggerating color next year. Just like the collection in 2003, the two designers rarely use many colorful designs. One reason to prove that is to cheer people up from the 911 izzue
. In the collection, it's just like they carried a duty to that. So I also think that they will have this sense of calling again.

For the marketing strategy, I think it is not a problem. As we should know that this brand is Dolice & Gabbana. For the highly popularity, they can use every color but also get a satisfied result.

So why I choose these five colors except achromatic scheme? I think nowadays everyone think too much, consider too much and worry about too much things. Every thing and relationship become very complicated. So I forecast red, green, blue, yellow some basic color to take people back to the basic. and help people tack back their hapiness.

Color line of 01 - 09 FALL Rtw

From 01 - 09, Dolce & Gabbana love to use those basic colors, that is black, Grey and white at all of their collection, but they will also use those bayadere colors. For this product mainly analysis FALL collection, the bayadere colors are quite dull. Except 03, the brand seldome use very sharp colour in their fall collections, most of the collection are rather dull or light in colour.

Color analysis

In this collection, more than 43 outfits are using achromatic scheme , designersare also using sharp color to decorate these three color . For example , in 23rd outfit , designers use shocking pink button to match with the black jacket . As we see , pink , red , blue and yellow are also designers' perference.

In this collection , designers are inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli . She was a famous designer in Europe . She had great creativity for example she designed a hat shaped like a woman's high heeled shoe , with the heel standing straight up and the toe tilted over the wearer's forehead . This hat was appeared in Elsa's 1937-1938 Fall collection .Here are the features of Elsa's design .First , Elsa liked using printing on the fabric and we can see that printing is also appeared in D&G 09 collection , as shown in the last few outfits (Marilyn Monroe).

Besides , in 1927 , Elsa designed a black jacquard sweater with white collar that made she more well-known . From this poit of view , we can see that in 09 collecion , D&G are inspired by Elsa .Also , Elsa liked using shocking pink . in the other D&G collections , we rarely find shocking pink but we can find it in 09 collection , so we can see that D&G 09 collection is inspired by Elsa .

Who is Elsa Schiaparelli?
Elsa Schiaparelli (10 September 1890 – 13 November 1973) was an inspired Italian fashion designer. Along with Coco Chanel, she dominated fashion between the two World Wars.[1] Starting with knitwear, Schiaparelli's designs were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West.
Schiaparelli did not adapt to the changes in fashion following World War II and her business closed in 1954.

Finally, in Fall 09 Ready-to-wear collection , about 50 outfits out of 64 outfits using black , grey and white as the main color . It shows that the designers are familiar with using these three colors.

Color analysis

In this collection , designers want to show old-school feeling . So there are details like "poor-boy sweaters , country-check shirts and printed silk scarves" etc . In order to emphasize these designs , designers use low value color to create such feeling like brown , grey and maroon .)

Also about 26 out of 60 outfits using monochromatic scheme and this scheme is to use the intensity to show the changes and is can create the unity .

Finally,besides monochromatic scheme , in this collection , designers used achromatic scheme in many outfits . Achromatic Scheme is using black , white and grey as the main color . This scheme is used in 09 fall RTW too.

In this collection,
D&G's theme is "Metallic Future Love---D&G’s woman is a dominatrix floating in a futuristic, sensual and indefinitely fetish world, where a man is merely a toy of seduction. After 2004's collection, this is another collection show the high ststus of women. The use of metallic color emphasize the strongness of women.

To match with the metallic theme, D&G designed a special venue . It likes a dungeon , "a black padded cell in which a posse of amazons stands frozen in classic lesbian S&M poses, silver spanking crops at the ready. This is the tableau that turned on a dais at the end of the runway in the Metropol theater" .

Finally, about 46 out of 71 outfits using achromatic scheme , black , grey and white seems the preference color of D&G . D&G like using achromatic scheme while adding one color like yellow , red or blue to make the outfit more abundant.

Collection analysis - 06 FALL RTW

Color analysis

In this collection, the duo mainly used Red , Golden and Blue. It is because D&G are "advancing into fall with Napoleonic zeal—literally. At the start of their show, a tableau of hussars and Empire beauties rose into view on a revolving plinth, arranged around a ceremonial black monolith emblazoned with the Emperor's laurels" . It shows that this year , D&G are inspired by Napoleon .

As said before, the color used in 06 Fall RTW , are mainly in baroque flourishes---the vibrant red velvets and antique golds to create a strong statement of luxury, refinement, and elegance" . It is inspired by The Coronation of Napoleon in Notre Dame , the 1804 painting by David that hangs in the Louvre . D&G also use "Touches of royal blue and emerald green to show regal opulence .

From the painting , we can see that gold and red are the main color .

Of course, Achromatic Scheme is also the main dish. Black , white and grey are really D&G's preference . About one third of the outfits using these three color.

In this collection , D&G is inspired by Swinging London . It is a catchall term applied to dynamic cultural trends in the United Kingdom , centred in London , in the second half of the 1960s . One of the icon of swinging London is Jean Shrimpton . She possessing some of the gamine features that also made a huge success . Her face appeared on the covers of Vogue , Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair magazines.

Who is Jean Shrimpton?
Jean Shrimpton (born 7 November 1942 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire) is an English Supermodel and actress. Nicknamed "The Shrimp", she was an icon of Swinging Sixties London, possessing some of the gamine features that also made a huge success of the younger Twiggy. Her face appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Vanity Fair magazines. She starred alongside Paul Jones in the 1967 movie Privilege.

So, this collection use color which show luxury like camel , purple and black.

And Sophisticated accords of dark blue and black determine the palette of colours which includes as well camel, purple and grey .Also , the show crescendoed with the label's familiar parade of Oscar gowns—this collection done in white and silver, the girls standing on the mirrored runway all a-twinkle and aquiver with Austrian crystal and exotically sculpted feathers.
